Everything I’ve bought in lockdown (so far..)

I’ve tried to restrain my shopping habits a little this year, I told myself I would be good. But then we got told to stay in for the foreseeable future… so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that this shopping wasn’t my fault and therefore doesn’t count. Hey, I don’t make the rules! With that in mind, I thought I’d share all of the things that have magically appeared on my doorstep over the past few weeks.

Topshop

Topshop Ditsy Babydoll Puff Sleeve Dress

Probably my favourite thing I picked up was this Babydoll Puff Sleeve Dress from Topshop. I loved this so much when I saw it that I set up an email notification so I knew when it was back in stock! This is quite different for me because although I love little summer dresses I’m more of a fit and flare kind of person but this dress is loose and has big puff sleeves which I never thought I’d wear! Definitely still a little out of my comfort zone but still very me in a lot of ways. It’s also worth mentioning that this feels like amazing quality especially for the price.

Glamorous Floral Print Dress

On the other hand, this dress 100% me down to a T! This Floral Print Dress is actually by Glamorous but I also bought this one on Topshop. I love these kinds of dresses, they’re feminine but still fun, girly but not too cutesie, flowing but fitted. This dress ticks all the boxes for me and I love how it makes a bit of a statement but doesn’t scream for attention! I also love how versatile this is as I think it could easily go from day to night with a change of footwear, I’d wear white trainers or sandals in the day and some little heeled sandals in the evening!

Topshop Ivory Honeycomb Cardigan

I’m so glad I took the plunge with this Honeycomb Cardigan from Topshop. I loved everything about this when I saw it apart from the balloon sleeves but when it arrived at my door I decided I really liked it! It’s super cozy and warm but the holes in the loose knit still make it nice and breathable, perfect for a summer’s evening!

ASOS

Stradivarius romantic shirt in blue checks

The first thing I got from ASOS was this Stradivarius romantic shirt in blue checks. I was a little on the fence with this one but I think on balance I’m going to keep it. Again, we have puff sleeves (who is she?!) which admittedly did worry me but I actually think the whole design fits together really nicely. The neckline is super flattering and I love this colour at the minute! I also think this one is more versatile than it looks because although it is a summery piece I think it would look great with some jeans, boots and a coat in the winter.

Topshop super cropped knitted top in ivory

I did buy this one on ASOS even though it’s another Topshop item (I’m really into Topshop right now! Can you tell?) and this was a definite keeper as soon as I unwrapped it. I loved this Topshop knitted crop top when I saw it, such a nice little basic! I actually got this one a size bigger than I usually would because of lack of stock but I really like the fit . I think this one would be great for those cooler summer days with some shorts and trainers!

Pieces Pany giant pearl hair clip

I’m loving these pearl hair clips from Pieces, I actually picked up two because I thought I would prefer having one for each side of my head and I’m glad I did! I think these look so nice pulling my hair away from my face whether I secure them at the back or the side of my head! My favourite thing about these are that not only are they super comfortable and gorgeous but they don’t slide out of my hair! They really grip onto my hair so I don’t have to adjust them every time I move which is such positive because I HATE putting something cute in my hair and having to fiddle with it because it won’t stay still. Super pleased with these ones.

The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser

Finally, I picked up this Squalane Cleanser from The Ordinary. I’ve been wanting to try this for a while and it seems to go in and out of stock all the time so I thought I’d grab it whilst I could!

Trends for Autumn 2019

Autumn is definitely on the horizon and as much as I love the sun I’m starting to get excited now I’ve seen the Autumn collections creeping their way onto the high street. Although the big designer brands often control the trends on the catwalk the high street can offer some really lovely alternatives and make what can be some pretty wacky trends a lot more wearable. There are a few common themes among the Autumn collections I’ve seen so I thought I’d put together a little list of the trends that seem to come up again and again and show you some really nice ways to wear them that won’t break the bank.

1. Florals aren’t just for spring1. Florals aren’t just for spring

Dark florals look to be one of the biggest trends this season and I’m loving it! This is such a perfect trend as it lets you stay comfortable in black if you’re not overly comfortable in colour but still adds an interesting pop to your outfit. I picked this dress up from Stradivarius recently and I can see it staying in my wardrobe for a long time because of the neutral base colour and the classic siluette. It’s also incredibly versatile, I can see myself wearing it with ankle boots, black trainers or even a little pair of heels.

2. Victorian Elegance

Victorian detailing is back in a big way this season with the catwalks displaying enormous ruffs and ankle-brushing hem lines. Not necessarily what I’ll be wearing to the supermarket but the more minimal details, seen on this peter pan collar shirt from Topshop, are a really nice nod to the trend.

3. Power Puff Sleeves

I’m sure many people will be happy to hear that puffy sleeves are not going anywhere this Autumn. A more subtle way to wear the trend is with this t-shirt from topshop, the puffy sleeves are still there but it could be worn with a nice pair of jeans to tone down the sleeves if you’re not wanting to be too out there!

4. Double Triple Leather

The catwalks were head to toe in leather for Autumn: trousers, jackets, shoes, shirts, you name it! Although I won’t be going that far I think it’s definitely time for a new leather jacket in my wardrobe and this leather-look biker jacket from New Look is a great option.

5. Western’s back

The western theme from last year is back again, this time with a focus on boots. Cowboy boots were definitely around a lot last year so better dig them out again! If you didn’t indulge last year Topshop have got you covered with these western boots.

I hope you enjoyed my take on the incoming trends for Autumn, I’m surprisingly really excited for Autumn fashion this year which doesn’t bode well for my bank account! If you did like this post I’d really appreciated it if you could like, share and subscribe to my blog.

Recent Purchases Spring 2019

I’ve been shopping recently (let’s be honest, when am I not?) and wanted to share what I picked up. I’m really loving all of them and would definitely recommend having a look for yourself!

First up is TopShop. They’ve just boosted their student discount to 20% off and you know I had to take advantage. I picked up a khaki green pair of trousers which I’ve literally worn everyday since I bought them. They’re super comfy and have a paperbag waist to really draw you in and balance out the looser fitting legs. I also found this pink top, I thought it looked kind of boho with the buckles on the straps and have found it goes really well with those khaki trousers. The trousers were £39 and the top was £12, but with that 20% they both came in at under £41.

I popped into New Look a few days ago and saw a cute little black dotted mesh top. I wore it on a night out a couple of weeks ago with my lounge mesh bra underneath and loved how it looked. I think it would look great with a little skirt on a night out or dressed down with jeans or some casual trousers.

I picked up one of my favourite things I’ve ever got in Primark the other week (big statement I know). I found this black and white horizontal striped bodycon dress and I’ve completely fallen in love. I’ve worn this whenever its warm enough to get away with a dress (and even when it’s not) and it still looks new. On top of that it was only £6, I’m definitely keeping my eye out for anything similar.

I mentioned in a previous post that I recently picked Essence’s Lash Princess mascara, you can read my review here. I’m still loving it and it has become my go too mascara both for everyday use and when I want something a bit more dramatic.

Finally, in a recent trip to Superdrug I got myself a bottle of Rimmel’s Lasting Finish foundation. I’ve seen this foundation around for years and have alway been curious about it so I thought I’d give it a go. I’m liking it a lot, it has a medium coverage with quite a natural ‘skin-like’ finish, I’m definitely going to keep testing it out.

I hope you enjoyed my little list of what I’ve bought recently and maybe given you a bit of inspiration next time you’re out shopping! Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe and follow me on instagram to see when I post first.
