How to wear your Summer Wardrobe in Autumn

It seems like the weather can’t make its mind up recently, I get up in the morning and wrap up warm for the gym, I come out an hour later and my jumper goes firmly in my bag as I get even more hot and bothered than I did on the treadmill. I don’t know about you, but because of this I’m finding myself stood in front of the mirror contemplating whether a summer dress or jeans and a jumper is more appropriate for the day ahead. This daily conundrum has inspired me to write this post on how to wear your Summer wardrobe this Autumn so we can try keep that autumnal vibe be it hot or cold.

1. When in doubt, add a biker jacket

A leather jacket instantly gives any outfit that extra edge making it the perfect addition if you’re thinking you might look a little too summery. Even a white lacey mini dress looks amazing with a leather jacket thrown over the top, the mix of textures looks effortlessly cool whether you’re going shopping, grabbing some lunch or even a quick trip to the pub.

2. Layers, layers and more layers

Sweatshirts are my best friend in autumn, I love how they look over a casual bodycon dress or even a shorts and t shirt combo. These kinds of outfits are perfect to wear in the morning when the air is still nice and fresh but bare legs keeps you from overheating later in the day. If you’re not a sweatshirt person you can easily switch it out for a little check shirt that matches the base of your outfit that day. I’m also a fan of these tied round your waist later in the day for a really relaxed feel.

3. “You can never take too much care over the choice of your shoes” Christian Dior

Shoes can completely transform your outfit, just think of how different a pair of jeans looks with trainers compared to some skyscraper heels! Swapping your open toe sandles for some chunky white trainers, boots or some cute loafers takes you from summer to autumn in an instant.

4. Pretty tops aren’t just for summer

PSA: stop putting away your little summery tops, their time is not over yet! This might seem kind of obvious but I always forget that a lacey top and jeans (maybe with a leather jacket to top it off!) is a perfect Autumnal outfit. Switching shorts or a skirt for jeans is a great way to get maximum versatility from your wardrobe.

I hope that’s given you a few new ideas for what to wear this Autumn and maybe let you look at your summer wardrobe in a new light. I’ve never been one to put away summer clothes when the months grow colder because there’s just so much you can mix and match across the seasons. It also stops me buying things I basically already own because they’re not tucked away in a box, better for my bank balance and the environment!

ASOS New In: Responsible Edit

It seems like summer is drawing to a close, and as sad as that makes me it can only mean one thing: not long until Christmas! Don’t worry, this is not a Christmas post in August but we do need to start thinking about Autumn so where is the first place I looked? Had to be ASOS! ASOS also have a relatively new feature on their site that lets you filter results so you only see ‘Responsible’ items, letting you see either items made from recycled materials or sustainable materials. I love this feature and will definitely be using it to try and be more environmentally friendly with my shopping. Keep on reading to see my picks from the ASOS new in section for the end of Summer/Autumn.

Monki peg cargo trousers in khaki
Monki peg cargo trousers in khaki

The first thing that caught my eye were these khaki peg cargo trousers from Monki. These look like such a great Summer-Autumn transitional piece, I’d wear these virtually all year round! The whole cargo vibe has been such a huge trend all year and I can’t see it going anywhere is Autumn!

Vero Moda high neck long sleeved top in burgundy
Vero moda high neck long sleeve top in Burgundy

Another Autumn/Winter staple (did I just say winter?! Hang on I need to lie down) is a cute high neck top and as always, ASOS have got us covered. This Vero Moda high neck jersey top is the perfect staple for when the weather turns cooler so you’ll be prepared when the sun surrenders. Both the burgundy and the mustard yellow are super Autumnal and are helping me cope with the end of summer.

ASOS DESIGN denim fitted western shirt dress in white
ASOS DESIGN denim fitted western shirt dress

You know when you see something and you gasp out loud? That’s what happened when I saw this white denim fitted western shirt dress. The western trend was huge last year and the cowboy boots and fringe look set to make a return this season! This is a much more subtle way to wear the trend but still a nice nod to the western theme.

ASOS DESIGN t-shirt with planet love motif in organic cotton
ASOS DESIGN t-shirt with planet love motif in organic cotton

Finally I wanted to shout out a couple of cute t-shirts I found, both of which are made from organic cotton! The first is this white t-shirt with planet love motif, I love the little motif and I think its such a nice way to wear a basic white t-shirt with a little extra something. The next one is a super simple dusty pink crew neck t-shirt which looks so perfect to wear with literally anything! Anything dusty pink draws my eye and believe me when I saw this is going straight in my bag!

I hope you enjoyed this ASOS responsible edit, we all need to be more environmentally friendly particularly in the way we shop and this filter will be a great help with that. I’ve been a little AWOL this summer and posts have been sporadic at best but I’m hoping to get out of my rut once I’m back at uni in a month, I really enjoyed writing this post and will get back to posting more frequently soon! Fashion Influx x In The Style

I’ve followed Lydia Rose, better known as Fashion Influx for a while now and I love scrolling through her Instagram, she’s super relaxed but versatile with everything she wears and it’s goals honestly. So when I saw she was dropping her own collection with online retailer In The Style I signed up for early access immediately. Her range also includes swimwear which I’m genuinely considering purchasing even though I’ll have absolutely no where to wear it since I’m currently on holiday… keep reading to see my top picks from her fab range.

First up is this beautiful cream satin crop top. I actually saw something very similar on Lydia’s Instagram from Zara a while ago and I loved how it looked, I’ve seen it a few times since then so I’m not surprised she included something similar in her own collection!

Next up are these incredible ecru denim tie waist paperbag shorts. They look so flattering and I can think of countless things I’d wear them with. I think they’re so versatile and could easily be dressed up with some little heels and a top or dressed down with some nice white trainers and a T-shirt or casual shirt.

It couldn’t be a Fashion Influx collection without some beautiful little dresses, this green floral wrap frill trim mini dress is probably my favourite. This sage green colour is everywhere right now and this dress is such a lovely way to wear it.

Moving onto swimwear, this print is EVERYTHING! This red floral plunge tie back swimsuit is so beautiful I’m so upset it didn’t drop a few weeks ago, I would have worn this everyday on holiday! I also love that she’s released some oversized shirts with the swimwear as little coverups. One also comes in this stunning print and I can see it thrown over a basic outfit, maybe some white shorts and trainers with a plain T-shirt? I need to stop convincing myself to buy it now…

Okay, so I know this is another swimsuit but look at it! I’ve always loved the colour yellow and this yellow floral scoop neck high leg swimsuit is no exception. This would even look lovely worn as a bodysuit with some shorts or even jeans as the weather cools off.

Finally (we got there eventually), I’m loving this black floral print bikini. A black bikini looks good on everyone and I think this is a really nice way of playing it safe but with a little pop of colour here and there to make things look a little more summery.

I hope you enjoyed reading my highlights from the Fashion Influx x In The Style collection, I think Lydia has done an amazing job in making this a versatile and beautiful collection. If you want to see the rest of the collection you can find it here, I’d definitely recommend checking it out for yourself! If you did like this post I’d really appreciate it if you could like, share and subscribe and follow me on Instagram to see when I post first.

What’s in my holiday makeup bag

I’m stilling basking in the Californian sun (let this never end) so my makeup routine has been a lot lighter, I did my makeup for the evening in less than 15 minutes the other day *pause for applause* which must be some kind of record for me! After this achievement I thought it only appropriate that I share with you some of those key products for passing off that summertime sweat for a summertime glow.

I fall in love with this product every time I use it and come September I’m definitely buying a lighter shade for when I’ve lost my tan. That product is the IT Cosmetics CC Cream and I can’t praise it enough! It’s super quick and easy to use but evens out my splotchy, slightly sunburned skin beautifully. It’s got just the right amount of coverage for me and none of the cake that comes with it, my perfect base come rain or shine.

Another perfect option for travelling is a multipurpose palette, my current fave is the Jordan x Beauty Bay Onyx palette because it contains 5 natural eyeshadows and a pop of yellow as well as two highlighters and a big mirror. Unfortunately I’m not sure this is still available but any palette that you can use for your eyes and your face is a winner for me.

A long-time favourite of mine is the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer so I made sure to pick up another one before we jetted off to the states. This time however I decide to pick up one in a darker shade as well to use as a cream bronzer and I’m really happy I did! The product is nice and creamy and blendable and doesn’t move my foundation around underneath it so I don’t lose any coverage. It’s also nice and compact so I don’t have to worry about it taking up too much of my more limited space.

A true godsend this holiday has been getting my eyelashes lifted before I went away. I know this isn’t necessarily makeup but it’s definitely been helping me get ready far quicker this holiday! My LVL lashes have made all the difference and I would definitely think about having it done again. For anyone who doesn’t know, LVL stands for length, volume and lift and it’s basically like a perm for your eyelashes, your lashes are lifted at the root and set with a serum, the effect of which can last up to eight weeks. It’s been super helpful because if I’m not wearing makeup I my eyes look more open and awake and if I am wearing mascara it only takes a few swipes and it looks like I’ve got fake lashes on in an instant!

I hope that’s given you a better idea of the key products that make all the difference for getting ready in a flash on holiday, I’ve got more products than this with me (I didn’t pack that light!) but these are the ones I thought it worth directing particular attention to. If you did enjoy this post lease don’t forget to like, share and subscribe to see more and follow me on Instagram to see these products in action!

Travel Blogs: Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

I’ve been fortunate enough to go to California for two weeks with my boyfriend and his family, first stop on our trip around the golden state was Hollywood. I really wasn’t sure what to expect but safe to say I loved every second of our stay at the home of cinema.

We flew into LAX at around 6pm local time and headed straight for the Loews Hotel, right around the corner from the Dolby Theatre: home of the Oscars! After falling straight into bed that evening we got up the next day ready for our whistle-stop tour of Hollywood.

We had a private tour booked where a tour guide took us in a car round Hollywood, Beverly Hills and of course pointing out celebrity homes along the way! Some of our favourite celebrity palaces we tried to peek at belong to Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, and the home of the late Avicci. My favourite part of the tour was a trip up as close as we could legally get to the Hollywood Sign, so iconic.

After lunch and a cheeky trip to Sephora for some sheet masks (aka: essentials) we had a tour round the Dolby Theatre and got told the story of Oscars night. Along our tour we found out that each Oscar is made from a copper core and twice dipped in 24K gold… they really are as heavy as they look!

Our second and final full day in Hollywood was spent on a VIP Experience at Universal City Hollywood. In the morning we had a tour around the sound stages and the backlots, some of which were active filming locations! This was definitely my favourite thing we’ve done so far as we were able to get out of the cars and walk on the sets. We saw the set for War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise, the City Hall Square from Back to the Future, their very own New York Street, parts of which have featured in shows like Brooklyn 99 and How I Met Your Mother, and finally my personal favourite we saw the outdoor set for The Good Place (I may or may not have had a minor fangirl moment when the guide said she’d seen D’arcy Carden) (I definitely did).

The afternoon was spent with VIP tour guide Jeff taking us round the theme park taking us on almost all the rides, my favourites were Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Revenge of the Mummy. Another highlight of the day was when I got pulled out in Olivanders to take part in the wand choosing ceremony, my wand was made of ivy. The Holly(ie) and the Ivy..? I liked the coincidence anyway!

All in all a very successful and memorable trip to Hollywood, I think you’ll agree! If you liked this post please like, share and subscribe to see more and follow me on Instagram to see some more photos from my trip.

Summer Occasion Dresses

In preparation for the Plymouth University Summer Ball I frantically searched for a dress to wear. Typically, I ended up wearing something I already owned but I still found some really lovely dresses I wanted to share! Keep reading if you’re looking for something to wear for a wedding, a university grad ball, or just for those evenings when you need to put on a fab dress.

Premium white bandage lalce insert mini dress

First up is this premium white bandage dress from missguided. It scared me when I saw it was from the premium range but fret not, it only costs £35. Having tried it myself the quality is great and it’s not see-through, definitely worth the money.

Second skin clear strap mesh ruched bodycon mini dress in mint

Next up is probably my favourite, this mint green mini dress from Oh Polly. I loved this one so much and I was so gutted when it wasn’t available in my size. Although I haven’t actually seen it I do know that the Oh Polly clothing is usually very good quality and double layered so it’s not see-through. This one also comes in black but I love how summery the mint is!

Emerald Green Plunge Lace Open Back Midi Dress image 1
Emerald green plunge lace open back midi dress

Another great option is this emerald green lace midi dress from Pretty Little Thing. Funnily enough when we were at the ball I saw a girl in this dress and I thought she looked really great! This one again is great quality and I think the colour is so unique, on top of that it’s not expensive costing £28.

ASOS DESIGN mini dress with lace godet panels
ASOS DESIGN mini dress with lace godet panels

This ASOS DESIGN blue mini dress is a more girlie option but I think it can still be dressed up with a nice pair of heels. The colour of this is what really drew my attention, I think it’s so cute and very summery!

ASOS DESIGN Tall square neck puff sleeve jumpsuit in broderie
ASOS DESIGN Tall square neck puff sleeve jumpsuit in broderie

Finally I thought I’d throw in a jumpsuit for those who aren’t keen on dresses and this ASOS broderie jumpsuit seems perfect. I love broderie anything so I think this would look beautiful at any event!

That rounds up my top occasion dresses for summer, I hope that has helped anyone who is trying to find something to wear this summer. If you liked this post then don’t forget to like, share and subscribe and follow me on instagram to see when I post first.

ASOS Wishlist Spring 2019

Attention all students, this is not a drill. ASOS have boosted their student discount to 25% off until Thursday 2nd May, perfect timing with that student loan having just come in! Keep reading to see how I plan to take advantage of their best ever offer.

ASOS DESIGN faux horn button through mini tea dress

Now this first one keeps going in and out of stock but fingers crossed! This ASOS DESIGN button through mini tea dress has been calling my name for a while now, and what better time to buy it than now. This one isn’t too expensive in the first place priced at £22 but with that 25% off it costs only £16.50.

ASOS DESIGN boiler playsuit with button front and tie waist

That utility vibe is really in now and this ASOS DESIGN boiler playsuit definitely caught my eye. I think its a really nice item for spring so you can stay cool without diving into summer dresses straight away. This comes in a few colours but the black stood out to me because it lets you try out the utility trend whilst staying comfortable and still understated if you’re worried about looking like a plumber!

One Above Another bandeau crop top in denim butterflies co-ord

A more summery piece, this One Above Another bandeau crop top looks so cute and I can imagine wearing it with jeans, skirts, trousers and even shorts for when the weather is that bit warmer. This one costs £25 which is definitely not on the cheaper side but with that discount I think it’s worth the money.

Skylar Rose floral mini cami dress with tie sleeves in floral

Another summer dress I’ve had my eye on for a few weeks is this Skylar Rose floral mini cami dress. This caught my eye immidiately because of both the pretty print and the cut, that fit and flare style is really flattering and wearable both during the day and the evening. I can imagine this with a pair of brown sandals or white heels in the summer, I hope I can get my size!

New Look buckle detail short in stone

Finally, these New Look shorts in stone are perfect for spring/summer. The stone colour is really versatile and would look great with lots of little t shirts and camis in the warmer months. They also have a dusky rose pair and although they look gorgeous I think the stone is slightly more versatile and unlike anything else I own.

I hope you enjoyed that quick rundown of my top ASOS picks, there are definitely more but I couldn’t make this post too long or the discount would be over before you’d finished reading it! Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe and follow me on instagram to see when I post first. And drop me a comment to let me know if there’s anything that you’re loving from ASOS right now!

Five on Friday 004

Hi everyone, hope you’ve had a great week and are looking forward to the long Easter weekend! Here are the highlights of my week just gone and the best meme I saw this week. I couldn’t resist this one, it’s an Office-Game of Thrones cross-over, I’m only human! Enjoy.

Be warned: this post is dark and filled with spoilers, Game of Thrones spoilers.

A silverlining to a very dark cloud

The world watched hopelessly this week as the Notre D’ame was engulfed in flames, and yet a silverlining emerged from the devastion. Over €700 million was raised in 24 hours to help rebuild the monument, hopefully setting a precident for how we will react to future disasters. The generosity of people can be greatly underestimated and I’m glad that this was not the case this week.

A long-awaited premiere

Game of Thrones started again this week. Can’t say I’m fully over it yet. I thought the whole episode was a great prologue to what promises to be a very eventful series. Favourite moments included; Sam being told about his family (performace of the series for him!), Ayra and Jon’s reunion, its like she was a kid again and its been so long since we’ve seen that! And most importantly, that final look from Jamie OMG it  s h o o k  me to the core, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau absolutely nailed it! I could talk about it forever but I’ll stop, I promise. Can’t wait for next week!

A fab night out

I went out this week for the first time in about a month, and I’m a uni student so that’s a loonngg time. I had a fab time with some new and old friends, definitely making it a regular thing!

A brighter week

The weather, particularly over the past few days, has been nothing short of glorious. This sounds like a small thing but warm weather makes me feel so much better about everything and puts me in a fab mood. Thankfully it promises to continue this weekend and I’m excited already.

An adorable film

My mum and I sat and watched Christopher Robin this week and it was one of the cutest films ever! I’ve always loved Winnie the Pooh and I had an ear to ear grin throughout the entire film I felt like I was back to being 5 years old again. Also, Pooh is surprisingly relatable, as I too am always hungry and definitely a bear of little brain.

Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe and follow me on instagram to see when I post first, have a great week.

Five Spring outfits

Now that the weather is finally warming up (thank god) its got me so excited about spring fashion and I thought about 5 outfits I can’t wait to wear this Spring.

The first thing that sprung (get it? like spring? …. I’ll see myself out) to mind when I think about Spring/Summer was white jeans, they just scream warm weather to me! I’ve just got an oversized button up shirt from Primark (I mentioned this in my Primark Haul Spring 2019!) which I think would look perfect with white jeans, brown sandles and maybe a brown bag to match. Slightly understated but nice and put together.

I love a simple bodycon dress and I picked up a black and white striped one the other day in Primark for just £6! I’ve already worn it with a sweatshirt over the top to keep me warm but I would wear it with a denim jacket if I wanted to look a little less casual. Whack on a pair of white trainers and you’ve got a perfect comfy spring outfit.

Chain print is still everywhere this season so I picked up a chain print shirt from Boohoo a few weeks ago which I’m loving. I love half buttoning it and tucking half into blue mom jeans. Shoe choices here are super versatile, it can be worn with heels, ankle boots or even trainers for something more dressed down.

Shirt dresses are a great in between for transitioning from winter into spring, I picked this one up from ASOS a while ago (I’ve also mentioned this before in My recent purchases, go check it out!). I much prefer this with a belt round the middle to really sinch me in at the waist, and worn with black over the knee boots to keep you that bit warmer in the unpredictable weather. I also think that a black camera bag would really tie this all together.

Finally, I think a black PU/leather look skirt can be a statement piece without having to be bright and colourful. It can be kept casual and toned down with a white t-shirt, a leather jacket and some ankle boots for a relaxed, put together vibe.

I hope that gave you a few ideas if you’re stuck with what to wear this spring, I think they’re also all adjustable for the warmer/colder weather by wearing tights or adding/removing coats! Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe and follow me on instagram to see when I post first. Also, drop me a comment to let me know what you’re wearing this Spring!

Primark Haul Spring 2019

Can you really go wrong with Primark?

Last week I popped into Primark as I often do when I’m happy/sad/bored.. okay so basically anytime I hear it call my name.. and I found a few really nice pieces that have got me so excited for summer. I think subconsiously if I buy enough summery clothes summer should just appear for me, worth a try?

mini primark haul 27.03.2019

I’m so so pleased with this first buy, this blue stripe shirt went straight into my basket as soon as I saw it. It’s a nice, light cotton without being itchy, perfect for summer. It fits just how I want it to which I’m so happy with considering a took a bit of a risk and sized up to a 10 (I’m generally an 8 across the board). I love it worn with mom jeans, half undone with a white vest or bandeau underneath for some layering. I can also imagine it looking amazing with white jeans and maybe some cute heels for dinner or lunch out, and for £7? Yes please!

Slightly boring, but I picked up a 3 pack of wireless bras in medium whilst I was looking around. Honesty time: I hate wearing bras. They’re so uncomfortable and I hate wearing one all day. These on the other hand are really soft and feel great throughout the day, these also look great underneath that blue shirt! These were £10 for 3, a great price and definitely a staple.

Another kind of dull one but totally worth getting are Primark’s black men’s straight leg joggers. Granted I meant to picked up ones with cuffed bottoms but I only noticed when I go home… Having said that these still fit really nice and are so soft, I prefer the men’s fit because they’re slightly looser so are much more comfortable. I’ll definitely be going back to get some more. Plus, the best part? Only £5. Can’t. Go. Wrong.

Next I saw these gorgeous tan block heels that were totally calling my name and for £12, well I couldn’t just leave them there, who do you think I am? I already have a pair of white block heels from Primark that are nice and comfy so I thought I’d give these a go too. They feel so lovely on, like I’ll be able to walk around and still feel my feet, revolutionary! These will go with so much in the spring/summer, especially white jeans and some nice little dresses.

Finally in my desperate plea for summer are these cute little brown slip on sandles. I plan to wear these everywhere over summer because they’ll be so convenient to just slip on as I run out the door and they’ll go with so much. I was definitely lacking a versatile pair of sandles last summer and these seem to fill that gap perfectly. These again were super affordable coming in at £6, I mean I really couldn’t say no to that.

That about rounds up my mini Primark haul. I always love having a nose round Primark so definitely expect more of these, especially as we get into summer! Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe and follow me on instagram to know when I post first.
